Summer is here again. Soon the sun in all its glory will be out and a bunch of half-naked pasty people will be roasting like sausages. Oh and actually sausages will also get grilled too.
Summer somehow never fails to bring that sense of impeding doom for me. Maybe it’s the sun, maybe it’s the end of the academic year, or maybe, it’s just all the free time I have to think about death.
And capturing this sort of mix of sun and slight horror is Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun (1994). Now that’s one song I haven’t heard in a long time, but oh how appropriate it is right now as a soundtrack for my existential summer!
