A few weeks ago – maybe 2, who knows really -, I went with my friend to a show in which some of the music students at my university were playing. It was great. Some of them got to show original pieces that were really beautiful; but before that, we were treated to some classical pieces by the greats of the past.
For one of those pieces, the solo was a trumpet solo. Which prompted the question: who chooses trumpet as their main instrument? And the great follow up from my friend: are trumpets ever a good idea?
Well, yes, they are sometimes. And here is a great example of pop trumpets from Belle and Sebastian with Expectations. This song is out of their 1996 debut album Tigermilk.
