2017 is over – for realsies. Last Sunday, my friends and I took one last look before jumping into the future – 2018 sounds like a date out of a sci-fi movie, it can’t be happening already. The 3 of us thought about the pop songs released this past year that we will not forget – no matter how hard we might try. Here are the pop songs we remembered.
Luis Fonsi (feat. Daddy Yankee) – Despacito
I think the coolest thing about this song is that it made it to top of the charts in a lot of countries – 47 apparently – and it’s not in English. I guess thanks – or because of – its success we’re now gonna have to listen to a lot of songs with that “tropical house” beat – you know the one that makes you feel like you’re on some sort of really drummy holiday.
Big Shaq – Man’s Not Hot
I heard this song one day when I was bored at work. I don’t think I’ll ever forget this one.
Charli XCX – Boys
So I’m not going to lie to you, the video is the main reason why I enjoy this song. I do like how dreamy it sounds and the little Nintendo noise is really fun.
Harry Styles – Sign of the Times
Because of his One Direction past, I did not want to like – or admit that I like – this song; but I do. And the imagery around the whole thing was just so deliciously precious, I had to cave in and say it, I really like it.
